When You Need To Change Things Up, It is OKAY!

After four years of us putting our own homeschool curriculum together, we finally decided on pre-packaged curriculum! YAY!!! 🙌
It has taken hours of prayer, observing our children, reading, researching, watching, waiting & a whole bunch of trial by fire to find out what works best for each of them (individually as well as together)! To say the least, the decisions were not made lightly as the options were vast & plentiful! I can see how anyone considering homeschooling can seem overwhelmed. But trust the Lord through the process! He will lead you to what path is right! Your eyes will be opened to how your children learn, and His Spirit will instruct you how best to educate them accordingly. Continue reading “When You Need To Change Things Up, It is OKAY!”

When The Hubby Knows

“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”

Once he got off work, Daddy helped me take care of the children just because he knew; he just knew. I had a long, full day. (I battle with insomnia. And so I try to make it through as best I can.) It would probably be hard for just anyone to notice how tired I really am… but he knows. He just knows. Continue reading “When The Hubby Knows”

Kingdom Win!

Today was a Kingdom win for sure… Leaning on Jesus is what it’s all about here in this blog! 🙂
Frustration. It was felt on both ends between my seven year old & me earlier, as happens occasionally with most homeschool moms I’m sure. She was speeding through her work just to finish. Eventually though, my “hurry up & wait” child (like mother like daughter) learned to slow down & try her best today. Patience was also acquired on both sides as her & I each took time to pause long enough for Jesus to settle our hearts. This is usually always a good choice, btw. My little hare (from the Tortoise and The Hare) also learned that rushing through just to get the lessons done actually made her school day longer in the end. This arrow of mine DID, however, come back with slow & steady perseverance when it was all said & done. But most of all, my precious daughter learned how to trust me enough to articulate how she felt in the process. Because at one point her voice whispered to me: “I just feel so… fragile.” In that statement, I realized she conquered those hurdles of today’s race- the Heavenly one. And so did I! Homeschool Beginnings

Watching these kindergartners learn to read is the most precious, priceless thing! It takes patience. It takes focused attention. It takes time. But Moms, there’s truly such a reward in the process! <3
Therefore, I challenge you, if you have pre-k age littles, why not homeschool? Just pray about it. Please, for you as well as for them, take the plunge! You will be pressed, pruned, tested & tried for sure. But what a better way to learn how to serve, lay down your life, give of yourself like never before & allow the Lord the grow you. It’s a selfless sacrifice, I tell you. And I, personally, have had to suffer in my flesh A LOT in order to yield my desires to God’s. But I know I’m all the better for it. 😀
Consequently, I’m writing this particular blog just to see if you will search out if this way of life is one for you. Continue reading “Homeschool Beginnings”

Off-Roading Motherhood?

Moms, I am having to trust God through a season of some seemingly messy, off-roading when it comes to motherhood these days. The Lord is basically having me back off, let up, calm down; “be still & chill” when it comes to how I school my children. Anyone who knows me well knows I like to research & give out tons of information, micromanage, train, stick to schedules & check boxes off as “done”. It‘s that soldier mentality- I can’t help it. I’ve just always been able to execute with excellency. It’s a gift! But here lately it’s been more like a curse because it can leave no room for others to solve problems for themselves! Consequently, I am being told to hand over the reigns, delegate & step into more of a facilitator role with my children so they can discover, explore & figure things out without mommy as their living “Google”. What You Can Expect at Honing in to Home…

Here is the type of blog you will get on Honing into Home blog:~

When you have younger children at home, some days primarily consist of puzzles and play doh… while others are full of prayer for that teenage prodigal. As the latter mentioned is not the topic of this blog, I share it to say that it is possible to pray about the one while still being fully present for the others. And in light of that fact, one may question how play doh and puzzle days are ones we call “spectacular”. So let me give you the answer to that now: because there is nothing better than good ole fashioned quality time together while you have it.
Time together builds relationships. Continue reading “What You Can Expect at Honing in to Home…”
