The afternoon brought with it scattered showers. But none the less, we stayed at the park for three whole hours! The children brought rain boots and umbrellas so they had a grand ole time! My three little ducklings got to dance and run around with their friend (delighting in the getting wet part of course) all while the mother and I just talked and talked under the pavilion.
Finally, it was time to return home when invite number three arose. Friends of ours wanted us to join them for dinner at their house. So, the children and I returned home from a muddy yet fun adventure at the park. My husband and I quickly got them baths, and we all headed back out the door in record timing. 🙂
Our evening with this couple and their children was indeed relaxing and peaceful. Dinner was divine. Our time together was such a sweet ending to an already full day.
Now, as I’ve mentioned before: these kind of days are rare for our family. I do, however, believe our Heavenly Father gave us the grace to see everyone we did on this special day for His sovereign purposes. And meanwhile, we were blessed with the fellowship!
In closing, I want to state that while we mommies may have so many opportunities arise in a single day, we still need to lean into the Holy Spirit as to whether or not we accept or decline such offers. Most of the time, I have to admit, I probably decline even the most enticing of invitations because I covet my moments at home with the children. And yes, while the unique day mentioned here was more of a pleasure than I imagined it would be, tomorrow we will hone back into home because “home is where my heart is”! <3
